I have come to the conclusion that there are two types of people in this world. The problem is that I am having a hard time articulating exactly what the difference between them is, yet I can see it so clearly in my head. I have however heard a couple wonderful quotes that do a wonderful job of drawing that line. These are:
“There are those who take a risk for peace, and those who prepare for war.”
“When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence”
In the end, I think it’s about selfishness vs selflessness. We need to have the strength to put the needs of the many ….. or the whole, before the needs of our specific sub-group. There is no “us versus them” no matter what scale we are looking at. THIS is what it means to have Agape love. This requires a great amount of strength of character combined with faith. unfortunately this is greatly lacking in todays world. Faith is replaced by fear due to a solid foundation of selfishness and ego. A selfishness that is SO in the core of the American value system, most of us don’t even notice that it is there. Those that don’t notice, are blind, and are likely having a difficult time understanding what I am talking about here.
My journal entry ends here technically, but I just wanted to point out that our former president created a “Space Force” in the event that we encounter hostile alien life in our cosmic exploration. We have no reason to believe that intelligent alien life would be hostile (particularly since “intelligent” and “hostile” are contradictions). So in the end such an implementation is a manifestation of ego and/or fear. For the life of me, I will never figure out why everything didn’t just fall apart for him at “Space Force”
